Story Podcast Producer
BimBam seeks an independent, resourceful and creative producer to source, cast, direct and record a series of audio pieces.
Through a partnership with PJ Library, we are working on a number of classic Jewish folktales that already exist in book form. Here are a few examples. The project is to take these story shapes, match them with great storytellers of diverse backgrounds and have them retell the tales in the studio, making them their own. (For instance: changing the setting, the character names, the flavor…but still maintaining the basic structure of the tale.)
BimBam will hand you the story shapes (often in manuscript form), and you would take it from there, handling all the production logistics including casting, directing and delivering final audio.
This is a new project, so our first 3 deliverables will be experimental, as we get feedback from our partner. We will learn as we go. For now, our assumptions are:
– Each tale will be 5-10 minutes long
– It is a great thing to include Jewish storytellers (we can make a few intros), but we want to diversify our voices to introduce listeners to lots of great talent, regardless of background. So you will be tasked with casting a mix of people, Jewish and non!
– You will add music as intro/outro. We will hire a music creator unless this is something you want to oversee.
– You will add more music and FX as they support the story moving along
– Each story will end with a tag that would be something like “This story was told by Joe Schmoe of San Francisco, and based on a classic Jewish folktale from Poland – to read a version from PJ Library, visit P J Library dot com. A great reference to the vibe we are looking for is Audible’s StoryParty.
Please respond to info@bimbam.com with subject line “Podcast Producer” a resume, portfolio, references and your availability. Please also include an estimate of the timeline/budget per story produced. We would like to immediately produce 3 of these as a pilot: we could work together on a short contract, and then see how it goes, and do some more.
