Rabbi Steven Greenberg is an award-winning author, noted teacher, and religious iconoclast. He received his B.A. in philosophy from Yeshiva University and his rabbinical ordination from Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary.

Rabbi Steven Greenberg is a Director and a Senior Teaching Fellow at CLAL-The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership. In this role was featured in the acclaimed 2001 documentary film about Orthodox Gay Jews Trembling Before G-d. He is the author of the groundbreaking book Wrestling with God and Men: Homosexuality in the Jewish Tradition, a Koret Book Award winner for philosophy and thought. He is also a rabbinic scholar in residence at Keshet, a Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Transgender Jewish advocacy and training organization, Hazon, a Jewish environmental advocacy organization, a founder of Eshel, a LGBT Orthdox advocacy organization, and a founding member and educational advisor at the Jerusalem Open House, an organization that advances social tolerance.

An expert scholar in Jewish texts and tradition, he is an often requested educator by communities and serves on the faculty of the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America. He is a graduate of the Jerusalem Fellows program, a two-year fellowship for senior Jewish educators sponsored by the Mandel Institute. He lives with his partner Steven Goldstein and his daughter Amalia in Boston.
