Rising from Panamanian and Jewish roots, Rachel has been writing for much of her life. She brings her curiosity, keen observation skills and quiet demeanor to her poems. As a teenager she was mentored at YouthSpeaks and 826 Valencia. She later attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts.

In addition to two self-published chapbooks, Rachel’s poems have been published in Street Sheet, Labrys: Art and Literature and the anthology Hearts Sized like Cities.

As a hospice chaplain and spiritual counselor Rachel brings her calm presence to attend to the sick and dying, accompanying people of all faiths through their final transitions.

Beyond the sickbed, Rachel officiates meaningful lifecycle ceremonies, devoting the same awe, wonder and sacred attention found in her poetry. She enjoys collaborating with couples to create customized weddings, commitment ceremonies and renewal of vows. Likewise she is honored to serve families in remembering their loved ones through memorial services. She specializes in helping the religiously unaffiliated mark the sacred moments in their lives.

Rachel lives in San Francisco where she was born and raised. In her free time she enjoys conversation, correspondence and making soup. She is currently studying at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California.
