Na VaNad

By Rabbi Tali Adler and Jeremy Tabick

The Torah’s Punishment to Wander

In the Torah, Na VaNad is when someone is forced to wander the Earth forever as punishment for killing your own sibling. Learn more about this Torah concept in this new animated video by BimBam and Hadar.

But why is this such a significant punishment? For some people a life of wandering sounds pretty great. Na VaNad isn’t about having to move around a lot, it’s about losing a fundamental part of who you are.

This video was created in partnership with Hadar and is inspired by Hadar’s Standards for Fluency in Jewish Text and Practice, a ground-breaking educational resources that provides standards for Jewish fluency and understanding. To learn more about Hadar and their standards, visit here.
